The Year Punk Broke, the documentary of Sonic Youth’s 1991 European tour with Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr., The Ramones, Mudhoney, Babes in Toyland and probably others I’m leaving out (I know Bob Mould was there as a chef), will be reissued on DVD this fall. I watched this movie on VHS in a friend’s dorm room when we were freshmen in college, and it’s fucking fantastic. The real treat is getting to see Nirvana before they hit big, and also, if I remember correctly, a pretty dry interview between Kim Gordon and J. Mascis about Amherst. You can watch it right now here.
