Next weekend’s the 5th Brooklyn Book Festival—I just found out. It feels early this year. I’ve gone to the last couple and was sad I missed David Cross and Jonathan Ames last year. This year, it looks like Sarah Silverman, John Waters and Salman Rushdie will be there, along with about a zillion other people I’d like to see. Stephen Elliott, Steve Almond, Paul Auster, Martin Espada (from my alma mater), John Ashberry, Adam Haslett, to name a few. I’d also like to see the panel about artists vs. executives. It’s amazing how much is packed into one day for this thing every year. No Thurston Moore this year, though. I think he’s touring with Sonic Youth.
