Author Bio(s):

Sophie McManus is the author of the critically acclaimed novel, The Unfortunates, which is shortlisted for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize, a Barnes & Noble 2015 Great Writers Discover Selection, and a Publishers Weekly 2015 buzz book. Her work has appeared in American Short Fiction, Memorious, Tin House, and elsewhere. She is a recipient of fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, the Saltonstall Foundation, and the Jentel Foundation. She was born and raised in New York City and is a graduate of Vassar College and Sarah Lawrence College’s MFA program. She teaches writing in Brooklyn, New York.

Patricia Park is the author of the debut novel Re Jane, a Korean-American retelling of Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre set in NYC and Seoul (Viking/PDB, Penguin Random House May 5, 2015). She was born and raised in Queens and graduated from the Bronx High School of Science. She received her BA in English literature from Swarthmore College and her MFA in fiction from Boston University. She has taught writing at Boston University, Ewha Womans University Graduate School of Interpretation and Translation, and CUNY Queens College. She was a Fulbright scholar to South Korea, an Emerging Writers fellow with The Center for Fiction, and a Fellow with the American Association of University Women. Her essays have been published in The New York Times, the Guardian, Daily Beast, Slice Magazine, and others. She has been interviewed on MSNBC “Book Report,” NPR “Here and Now,” WNYC “Brian Lehrer,” CBS Radio, and others.

Ioannis Pappos is a management consultant and writer from Pelio, Greece. He is a graduate of Stanford University and INSEAD Business School, and has worked in both the U.S. and Europe. Ioannis contributes to blogs and magazines. Hotel Living is his first novel. He lives in New York City.

Tracy O’Neill is a writer based in Brooklyn, NY. She was awarded the NYC Emerging Writers Fellowship by the Center for Fiction in 2012. You can see her writing online at the San Francisco Chronicle, RollingStone.com, The Millions, TheAtlantic.com, Grantland, Bookforum, The L Magazine, The Collagist, and Publishers Weekly. Her fiction has appeared in Granta, Guernica, The Literarian, and Vol. 1 Brooklyn. Her novel The Hopeful arrives at bookstores in June 2015.

Amy Shearn is the Assistant Director at Sackett Street and the author of the novels The Mermaid of Brooklyn and How Far Is The Ocean From Here. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, DAME, Poets & Writers, Real Simple, Electric Literature, Five Chapters, Opium, Grist, West Branch, the Found Magazine anthology Requiem for a Paper Bag, and elsewhere. She received her MFA from the University of Minnesota, and has taught at NYU and Gotham Writers Workshops. She currently hosts an author interview series at the Brooklyn Public Library called BOOKISH: Writers Talking. Amy lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
